In Japanese, BL is a genre of gay fiction, specially manga, anime, and doujinshi 同人誌 that focus on a gay romantic or sexual relationship and targets a female audience (e.g. shoujo 少女), as opposed to bara 薔薇, that targets a male, gay audience. An erotic, plot-less sub-genre is yaoi やおい. Rarely, it means "to be gay" instead. BL is an acronym standing for "Boys' Love," booizu rabu ボーイズラブ. It's pronounced bii-eru びーえる.

In Japanese, nikusokukei 肉食系 means a kind of person that assertively, aggressively or even predatorily seeks romantic or sexual relationships.

It comes from nikushoku 肉食, literally "meat-eating," which is the term for "carnivore" animals, predators that go after prey. Plus the -kei ～系 suffix, "class," so nikushoku-kei, "carnivore-class."

Normally, society assumes guys chase girls. Guys chase skirt. And girls are the ones being chased. They're the pure "maidens," otome 乙女. And, in fact, some want to be chased. They don't want to be proactive, take the first step, and confess to the guy they like. They want the guy they like to confess to them, so they can feel their worth recognized.

So guys are assumed to be nikushokukei by default. In which case, it becomes redundant to call a guy nikushokukei. When nikushokukei is used, it tends to mean women that take the first step instead of men. Women that do go after the guys they want. Women that make the cheesy pick-up lines and so on. This is despite nikushokukei being technically gender-neutral.

In Japanese, fujoshi 腐女子, meaning literally "rotten girl," refers to a girl that fantasizes about guys being in a homosexual relationship with other guys, specially shipping male characters with other male characters in manga and anime, writing gay fanfics, drawing gay doujinshi 同人誌, and fan art featuring them, and enjoying gay genres called BL (Boys' Love) and yaoi やおい / 801.

In anime, a "moe attribute," or moe zokusei 萌え属性 in Japanese, refers to something which someone thinks is cute in a character or situation, or, more broadly, feels moe 萌え towards. See types of moe for a list of examples.

Basically, it refers to a fetish, but the term "fetish" carries a sexual connotation, which isn't necessarily the case with moe attributes.

For example, if you like characters that wear "glasses," megane 眼鏡, then you're "glasses-attribute," megane-zokusei 眼鏡属性. Conversely, a character that's designed specifically to appeal the glasses-loving folks is also said to be megane-zokusei.

What is the meaning of kemono in Japanese? It can mean an animal as in a furry "beast;" an anthropomorphic "furry" character; or artwork featuring such characters. Typically, 獣, kemono in kanji, will have the "beast" meaning, while in katakana, kemono ケモノ, has the slang "furry" meanings.

In Japanese, josou 女装 means "female attire," but it's typically a term for crossdressing, in the sense of a guy wearing female clothes. It's also romanized josō, with a macron for the long vowel.

The opposite, girls wearing a "male attire," is called dansou 男装, but it's less common in anime.

In anime, a trap is a boy that looks like a girl, or, more typically, a girl that turns out to be actually a boy, because the author drew a girl, and then used this female design for a character that's canonically male. A reverse trap is the reverse: when a boy turns out to be actually a girl.

What "looks like" means exactly, and what counts as a trap or doesn't varies from person to person, such that the same character may be considered a trap to one person, but not to another.
